A PENSIONER who was found dead at his home in Derry has been named locally as Noel O’Sullivan. The body of Mr O'Sullivan, who was in his 80s, was discovered on Wednesday afternoon at the house in the Culmore Road area of the city. Man convicted of killing Michael Murphy in Boxing Day attack

A MAN has been convicted of killing another man in a violent and aggressive Boxing Day attack. Jurejs Vankovs has been found guilty of the manslaughter of 49-year-old Michael Murphy following a trial at Wood Green Crown Court which concluded yesterday (July 17). June 4, 1820

On June 4, 1820, Henry Grattan, outstanding orator and dominant figure in the Irish parliament, died. Grattan entered the Irish Parliament in December 1775. He was the leader of the Patriot movement that won legislative independence for Ireland in 1782. Later he headed opposition to the union of England and Ireland. Grattan spent the last 15 years of his life on the British House of Commons after being elected in 1805.
