Driver injured in Kerry collision dies in hospital

A WOMAN who was seriously injured in a collision in Co. Kerry earlier this month has died in hospital. Elderly woman dies in Co. Antrim house fire

AN ELDERLY woman has died in a house fire in Co. Antrim. Police were called to reports of a fire at a home in the Tansy Road area of Lisburn at around 6.30pm on December 15. Eight properties searched as garda probe assault which left woman with severe burns

EIGHT properties were searched in Dublin today as gardaí continue to investigate an assault which left a woman with serious burn injuries. The attack happened at the woman’s home in Oak Downs, Clondalkin at around 10.10am on Tuesday, November 25. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
