Six cars torched in arson attack on garage in Belfast

AN arson investigation is underway after a fire was started at a garage in the early hours of this morning. PSNI officers are appealing for information following the attack, which saw accelerant poured over the fence of a garage yard in south Belfast. Two Irish authors among six shortlisted for Dublin Literary Award

TWO Irish authors are among six who have been shortlisted for the Dublin Literary Award. ‘Prolific’ shoplifter jailed after being caught stealing £50 worth of chocolate bars

A WOMAN described by police as a “prolific shoplifter” has been jailed after being caught stealing chocolate bars, clothes and cleaning products. Nicola Connolly, of no fixed abode, was caught shoplifting in Bedworth Town Centre on March 21. Infrastructure Minister pledges to extend use of Irish language across public services in Northern Ireland

After the start of the Irish Rebellion of 1798 on May 24, the United Irishmen were defeated by British forces on this day in 1798. Historically known as the Battle of Vinegar Hill, almost 1,000 rebels lost their lives in this battle, which marked a turning point and eventual loss in the Rebellion of 1798.
