A TOWN in Co. Tipperary has been engulfed in a 'terrible sadness' following the death of a young girl in a swimming tragedy. Taoiseach responds to Donald Trump’s proposed 30 per cent tariffs on imports from the EU

TAOISEACH Micheál Martin has responded to US president Donald Trump's proposed 30 per cent tariffs on imports from the EU, calling instead for a negotiated deal in which 'everyone wins'. Police treat paint attack on Orange Hall in Co. Antrim as hate crime

THE PSNI has said it is treating a paint attack on an Orange Hall in Rasharkin, Co. Antrim as a hate crime. Paint was thrown over the front of the building and graffiti daubed on walls opposite ahead of a Twelfth of July parade in the town. Appeal for information after man discovered with life-threatening injuries in Lisburn

DETECTIVES are appealing for information and witnesses after a man was discovered in Lisburn with life-threatening injuries. The man was found at around 5am on Saturday in the Prince William Road area of the city. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
