A REVIEW of the PSNI’s response to the recent riots in Ballymena has found they showed “considerable restraint” in the face of the violence aimed at them. FINE GAEL councillor Ray McAdam has been elected the new Lord Mayor of Dublin. He becomes the city’s 358th Lord Mayor, succeeding Councillor Emma Blain, who held the post from December 2024. The Co. A SCHOOL has paid tribute to one of their pupils who died following an incident in Co. Kerry. Authorities appeal for information on next of kin following death of 84-year-old man in Wales

POLICE in Wales have appealed for information on the next of kin of a man who recently died. Luke Joseph-Finneran, of Church Street, Briton Ferry, passed away at the age of 84. Edna O’Brien, Irish novelist and short story writer, was born on this day in County Clare in 1930. Born to strictly religious parents, O’Brien described her childhood as suffocating. She was educated from 1941 to 1946 by the Sisters of Mercy. She then went on to receive a license in pharmacy in 1950. O’Brien turned to writing and published “The County Girls” in 1960. It was the first in a trilogy that was banned from Ireland. In 2009, she received the Bob Hughes Lifetime Achievement Award at the Irish Book Awards in Dublin.
