IRELAND’S National Famine Commemoration will take place in May 2026 it was confirmed this week. Earlier this month it was announced that the annual event commemorating the lives lost and those forced to emigrate from Ireland due to the Famine will take place in Portumna, Co. Galway next year. Public survey launched ahead of return of Dublin to Derry air service

Images released of teenage girls missing from Co. Tipperary

CCTV imagery has been released of two teenage girls who have been missing from Co. Tipperary for five days. Denis Johnston, Irish playwright and protege of W.B. Yeats and George Bernard Shaw, was born on this day in 1901. Johnston’s first play, “The Old Lady Says No!” helped establish his career as a playwright. “The Moon in the Yellow River” (1931) is perhaps his most well known play.
