Police name man who died in Co. Antrim collision

POLICE have named a man who died in a Co. Antrim collision involving a car and a pedestrian as 24-year-old Jamie Mitchell from Portrush. FAI votes in favour of motion calling for ‘immediate suspension’ of Israel from European football

IRELAND'S unemployment rate remained at 5% in October, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), as the number of people out of work edged higher compared with last year. PSNI launch hate crime investigation after Alliance HQ vandalised

POLICE have launched a hate crime investigation after graffiti was sprayed on the Alliance Party’s headquarters in what officers are treating as a sectarian-motivated incident. Thousands of oysters return to Dublin Bay

NEARLY 20,000 native oysters are being reintroduced to Dún Laoghaire Harbour as part of a major restoration effort aimed at reviving the species in Dublin Bay after a 200-year absence. After the start of the Irish Rebellion of 1798 on May 24, the United Irishmen were defeated by British forces on this day in 1798. Historically known as the Battle of Vinegar Hill, almost 1,000 rebels lost their lives in this battle, which marked a turning point and eventual loss in the Rebellion of 1798.
