FIVE men have been sentenced for the murder of a “beloved husband and father” in Belfast. Ian Ogle was brutally attacked by a gang in east Belfast at around 9.20pm on January 27, 2019. Former member of British ‘black ops’ unit charged with murder

THE murder of west Belfast man Patrick McVeigh in May 1972 moved closer to a resolution today as a former member of the British armed services was charged with the crime. Man arrested in €10 million Kilkenny cocaine sting

AN GARDA SÍOCHÁNA arrested a 60-year-old man in Co. Kilkenny yesterday after it was revealed that more than €10 million worth of cocaine was found in a lorry. Barry Yelverton introduced the bill that will become Yelverton’s Act on this day in 1781. The bill was a modification to Poyning’s Law, which was already in place, and stated that all laws passed by both houses of the Irish parliament should be forwarded to England to become law by royal assent. This took the power to amend laws away from the Irish privy councils.
