PENSIONERS in Northern Ireland who are no longer eligible for a winter fuel payment will get a one-off fuel support payment this month. Over 200 Ukrainian refugees asked to relocate

THE Department of Children and Integration have issued over 200 letters to Ukrainian refugees living in emergency accommodation asking them to move. Farmer fined for polluting waterway in Northern Ireland

A FARMER in County Fermanagh has been fined for polluting roughly 600 metres of waterway. William Graham, 65, of Drumgoon Manor, in Maguiresbridge, pleaded guilty to the charge at Enniskillen Magistrates Court this week. He was fined £300 plus £15 offenders levy. Domestic abuser sentenced for subjecting partner to ‘horrific ordeal’

A MAN has been jailed for subjecting his partner to an ‘horrific ordeal’. Wojciech Lubinski was sentenced at Antrim Crown Court yesterday (March 12). Witness appeal after house set alight in arson attack

POLICE have issued a witness appeal after a home was set alight in broad daylight in Lisburn. Thomas Dognan, the 2nd Earl of Limerick, member of the Irish Parliament and governor of the colony of New York, died on this day in 1715. Dognan was born to a Catholic family in County Kildare. Because of their religion, they fled to France. He served in an Irish regiment in France and achieved the rank of colonel in 1674. Due to the order that called all British subjects serving in France back to England, Dognan returned to London. He was given a high ranking commission by the Duke of York in Flanders. James, the Duke of York, had become Lord Proprietor of New York after the English had acquired the colony from the Dutch. He then appointed Dognan as the first provincial governor (1683-1688) of the colony.
