FORMER EU Commissioner Mairead McGuinness has been nominated for the role of vice president of the European People’s Party (EPP). Man pleads guilty to sexually assaulting teenage girls near Clapham Common

A MAN has pleaded guilty to a string of assaults on teenage girls which occurred near Clapham Common. John Nyhan, of Ingrave Street in Wandsworth, pleaded guilty at Kingston Crown Court this week to three sexual assaults. Barry Yelverton introduced the bill that will become Yelverton’s Act on this day in 1781. The bill was a modification to Poyning’s Law, which was already in place, and stated that all laws passed by both houses of the Irish parliament should be forwarded to England to become law by royal assent. This took the power to amend laws away from the Irish privy councils.
