SHEILA CLERKIN, a much loved figure from the world of Irish dancing has died. Sheila, teacher adjudicator and feis musician passed away on January 28, 2025 aged 92. GARDAÍ are seeking the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of a man missing from Co. Meath. Dylan McLoughlin, 27, is reported missing from his home in Ratoath since Friday, February 21. Man hospitalised after being shot with crossbow in Belfast

A MAN has been treated in hospital after being shot in the leg with a crossbow in Belfast. The incident occurred some time between 12am and 1.30am on Sunday in the Cupar Way area in the north of the city. A MAN has been taken to hospital following a shooting incident in west Belfast on Sunday. The incident occurred in the Bell Steel Manor area of Poleglass in Dunmurry at around 10.30am. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
