A TEENAGER will appear in court today following the seizure of €500k of illegal drugs in Kildare last night. The 18-year-old has been charged in connection with the incident in Newbridge. Ireland hits record high for exports – despite dramatic fall in goods sent to Britain

IRELAND hit a record high for goods exports in 2024 newly released figures reveal. Data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows goods exports rose to €224bn last year. Date Holyhead Port set to fully reopen confirmed

THE date that Holyhead Port is expected to reopen fully has been confirmed by its operators. All sailings were cancelled at the port from December 7, 2024 after Storm Darragh caused significant damage to two of its berths. Last month access to the Terminal 5 ferry berth was restored. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
