POLICE are appealing for information after a teenager was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Lisburn. The collision occurred in the city around eight miles outside Belfast just before 6.20pm on Saturday. Pedestrian dies in collision in Co. Cavan

A PEDESTRIAN has died following a fatal road traffic collision in Co. Cavan. The single-vehicle collision occurred on the N54 at Plush, Cloverhill at around 10.45pm on Saturday. Arrest after gardaí seize €400,000 of cannabis in Dublin

A MAN has been arrested after gardaí seized €400,000 worth of cannabis in Dublin on Saturday. The discovery was made by gardaí from the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) during a search of a residence in Swords. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
