A YOUNG man who was seriously injured in a collision involving an electric scrambler in Co. Clare at the weekend has died. Fundraiser set up to support young children of murdered Derry woman Amy Doherty

A FUNDRAISER has been set up to support the two young children of a woman murdered in Derry at the weekend. Man convicted of murdering Natalie McNally

A MAN has been convicted of murdering his partner while she was pregnant with their son. Stephen McCullagh, of Woodland Gardens in Lisburn, was found guilty of murdering Natalie McNally at her home in Lurgan in 2022. She was 15 weeks pregnant with a baby boy at the time. Funeral confirmed following death of sports broadcaster Michael Lyster

TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of one of Ireland’s best-known sports presenters Michael Lyster. €6.2m pledge to support Irish and Ulster Scots languages

Edward Augustine Walsh was born in Pennsylvania to a family of Irish immigrants. At age 12, he began working in the coal fields. He grew to be 6′.1″ and at 193 lbs became known at “Big Ed.” In 1902, urged on by a friend, he tried out for the Wilkes-Barre baseball team. He joined the Chicago White Sox in 1904, becoming one of the top pitchers in the American league. Walsh is known for his spitball, which is now illegal. After his career ended, he coached the White Sox for several years and then coached baseball at Notre Dame University. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946. Walsh died on May 26, 1959. His son, Ed Walsh, also had a career with the White Sox.
