GARDAÍ have revealed they are now treating the death of a man in Co. Wicklow at the weekend as a murder investigation. Investigation after attempted arson attack on house by hooded men

POLICE are appealing for information following a report of an attempted arson attack by a group of hooded men on a house in Co. Antrim. Police name man who died one month after Co. Tyrone collision

A MAN has died one month after being involved in a road traffic collision in Co. Tyrone. The collision, involving a car and a van, occurred shortly before 8.40pm on Sunday, December 22 in the Drumnakilly Road area of Omagh. Two men wanted in the Republic of Ireland and Lithuania extradited from Northern Ireland

TWO men who are wanted for offences in the Republic of Ireland and Lithuania have been extradited from Northern Ireland today. A 31-year-old man, who is wanted to stand trial for dangerous driving causing death, was extradited to southern Ireland. On this day in 1834, Daniel O’Connell, the Irish political leader often referred to as “The Liberator” or “The Emancipator,” sparked a debate in the British House of Commons by calling for a repeal to the 1801 Act of Union. During a five-hour speech, O’Connell questioned the 2/17 tax that Britain had levied on Ireland, calling it a “fraction purposely introduced in order that Ireland might be robbed with greater facility.” Previously, O’Connell had successfully campaigned for the right for Catholics to sit in the Westminster Parliament. A critic of violent insurrection and a staunch abolitionist, he would serve as an inspiration to Frederick Douglass, and later to Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.
