Funeral confirmed for young man killed in tractor incident

TRIBUTES have been paid to a young man who died following a tractor incident in Co. Galway. Joshua Sullivan died after the tractor he was a passenger in was involved in a collision in Oranmore on November 2. Gardaí were called to the incident on a local road in Rinn at around 3.30pm. Arrest made after man stabbed in the neck

DETECTIVES have made an arrest after a man was stabbed in the neck as he walked through the city of Belfast in the early hours of yesterday morning. Elderly man in critical condition following assault in Co. Antrim

AN ELDERLY man is in a critical condition in hospital following an assault in Co. Antrim. The incident involving the 74-year-old man occurred on Station Road in Antrim at around 7.30pm on Saturday. April 30, 1971

On this day in 1971, popular Irish novelist John Boyne was born in Dublin. Boyne is best known for his 2006 release The Boy in Striped Pyjamas, which is narrated by a 6-year-old German boy whose father is a Nazi Commandant at Auschwitz during WWII. The book held the number one spot on the New York Times bestseller list, has sold more than 5 million copies around the world, and was made into a major motion picture. Boyne attended Trinity College, Dublin and studied creative writing in the University of East Anglia’s highly regarded program. When he was just starting out as a writer, he worked at Waterstones Books in Dublin and wrote at night. He is the author of 9 novels – most recently a work titled The Absolutist.
