AN INVESTIGATION into a fatal hit-and-run in Co. Carlow last month has been upgraded to a murder inquiry. The collision involving a car and a motorcycle occurred at Sandbrook, Ballon at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, April 24. FOUR men have been jailed for their role in a brutal attack and kidnapping that left the victim with a permanent brain injury. CORK singer Bambie Thug helped Ireland to a respectable sixth-placed finish at Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo, Sweden. Man knocked unconscious during robbery in Co. Armagh

POLICE have appealed for information after a man was knocked unconscious before being robbed in Co. Armagh. The incident occurred in the Westacres area of Craigavon on Friday evening. 329 passengers were killed in a plane crash off the coast of Ireland. Air India flight 182 was en route from Montreal to Dehli, when it was blown up in Irish airspace by a bomb. Investigation into the flight led Canadian officials to believe that a Sikh militant group called Babbar Khalsa was responsible for the bombing. 280 Canadian citizens, 27 British citizens and 22 Indian citizens were lost, resulting in the largest mass murder in modern Canadian history. A monument remembering the event was unveiled in 1986 in Ahakista, Cork.
