Lorry drivers arrested in England over huge drug seizures worth around £2m

TWO lorry drivers have been charged with drugs offences after 104kg of cannabis was seized in two separate seizures in England. Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy steps down from ministerial role on medical grounds

SINN FÉIN'S Conor Murphy has stepped down from his role as Minister for the Economy on medical grounds. The MLA for Newry and Armagh has been ordered to rest as he awaits further medical tests. 329 passengers were killed in a plane crash off the coast of Ireland. Air India flight 182 was en route from Montreal to Dehli, when it was blown up in Irish airspace by a bomb. Investigation into the flight led Canadian officials to believe that a Sikh militant group called Babbar Khalsa was responsible for the bombing. 280 Canadian citizens, 27 British citizens and 22 Indian citizens were lost, resulting in the largest mass murder in modern Canadian history. A monument remembering the event was unveiled in 1986 in Ahakista, Cork.
