POLICE investigating a serious assault which left a man in hospital have made an arrest. Arrest after teenage girl dies in collision in Co. Wicklow

A TEENAGE girl has died following a single-vehicle collision in Co. Wicklow. The girl was a passenger in the car when the collision occurred shortly before 5am on Sunday at Slaney Park in Baltinglass. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A WOMAN has died after falling at the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon while the woman, aged in her 20s, was visiting the popular tourist attraction with friends. Archbishop Paul Cullen of Dublin becomes the first Irish cardinal on this day in 1866. Born in Co. Kildare, Cullen went on to study at the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. Cullen was appointed rector of Irish College and helped secure the college’s future. While rector from 1832-1850, he forged a close friendship with Pope Gregory XVI and Pope Pius IX and helped safeguard the interests of the Irish church. He was first made Archbishop of Armagh and then transferred to Archbishop of Dublin in 1852, where he would be later made a cardinal.
