New Irish Embassies and Consulates to Open in 2018

In October, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney announced the opening of six new Irish diplomatic missions as part of the government’s 2018 budget package. Irish Passport Service Wins World Class Civil Service Award

The Irish Passport Service was recognized for its outstanding achievement with the World Class Civil Service award at the Civil Service Excellence and Innovation Awards at Dublin Castle in November. American, Canadian and Irish engineers are successful in their combined efforts to fly the first transatlantic model plane. The plane, named the “Spirit of Butts Farm” after its testing site, landed on August 11, 2003 in Galway, 38 hours after it took off from Canada. The small wood and mylar plane flew a total of 1,888 miles using satellite navigation and an autopilot system.
