The New York dinner for the International Breast Cancer Foundation for Ireland was held at the Metropolitan Club in New York on April 25. The foundation sponsors post-graduate specialist studies for Irish doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York. The third Catholic Relief Act came into effect on this day in 1782. This act follows the second which was issued on May 4, 1782. Combined, the two Relief acts allow Catholics to own land outside of parliamentary boundaries, allow Catholics to become teachers, and allow them to act as guardians. These acts are part of the movement for Catholic emancipation and the removal of restrictions brought about by the Penal laws.
