One Christmas was so much like another in those years, to borrow a line from Dylan Thomas. Grace Boner was born December 10, 1904 in Altmore near Burtonport in the Rosses, County Donegal, Ireland. She married John Conaghan from nearby Crickamore. Catherine Flannely was born in Porturlin, County Mayo, Ireland around 1835. She married Anthony Moran from the nearby village of Baralty. Catherine and Anthony immigrated to America in the 1860s and settled in a small coal mining town near Scranton, Pennsylvania. They had twelve children. Senator Ted Kennedy passed away at the age of 77 on August 25th of 2009. The youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, Ted Kennedy became one of America’s longest-serving senators. He was a leader of the Democratic party. In March of 2009, Kennedy was granted an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II for his efforts in the Northern Ireland peace process. Ted Kennedy is buried at Virginia’s Arlington National Cemetery near both of his brothers.
