Dairy State Bans Kerrygold Butter

There was statewide outcry in Wisconsin when much-loved Irish butter brand Kerrygold was outlawed at the end of February, due to a 1970 law that dictates all butter sold there must be subject to scrutiny by a panel of experts, who ruled that the grass-fed dairy cows used by the brand were noncompliant with their regulations. Three time Olympic gold medalist and Irish swimmer Michelle de Bruin was stripped of her swimming records on this day in 1999 and was officially banned from swimming competitively for four years after it was discovered that she had tampered with a required urine sample. De Bruin was suspected by many as having taken performance-enhancing drugs and the ban effectively ended her swimming career.
