Hairspray, fake wigs, and oodles of bling were on full display in front of 20,000 spectators for the 45th installment of the Irish World Dance Championships which took place in Montreal at the Palais des Congres in April. Barry Yelverton introduced the bill that will become Yelverton’s Act on this day in 1781. The bill was a modification to Poyning’s Law, which was already in place, and stated that all laws passed by both houses of the Irish parliament should be forwarded to England to become law by royal assent. This took the power to amend laws away from the Irish privy councils.
