Dublin-born Gregory Harrington will become the first Irish violinist to play a full-length solo debut at Carnegie Hall on February 17th, 2003.

Harrington, who is a graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, University College Dublin and the Mannes College of Music in New York, won an award organized by Artists International Presentations, Inc., that gives him the privilege of playing at the world-renowned concert hall in New York City.

Meanwhile, Harrington treated members of Manhattan’s Irish Arts Center to a special preview recital on October 23.

The violinist received his performance diploma from the London Guildhall School of Music in 1998, has studied with violin pedagogue Sally Thomas, with Russian virtuoso Marat Bisengaliev and with Robert McDonald and Valentin Belkinsky of the Borodin.

He is continuing his studies in New York with celebrated violinist Erick Friedman, and is committed to performing contemporary music, in particular, the works of American composers John Adams, Philip Glass, Steve Gerber and Scottish composer James McMillan. ♦
