An Irish Harp
John Egan Portable Harp, c. 1820. John Egan was an Irish musical instrument maker who is considered the father of the modern Irish harp. Egan overcame the restrictions of the traditional Irish harp by creating “portables”. Eighty of his classic harps are known to exist. The O’Brien Collection.
