Police name woman who died in Co. Antrim collision

October 1, 2025 by

POLICE have named a woman who died in a collision in Co. Antrim at the weekend as 81-year-old grandmother, Beatrice Higgins.

The former primary school teacher, who was from the Ballycastle area, passed away following a two-vehicle collision in the Glarryford area on Sunday afternoon.

Mrs Higgins, a mother of six, will be laid to rest on Friday at St Patrick’s & St Brigid’s Church in Ballycastle.

The PSNI is continuing to appeal for information on the incident.

“Shortly after 2pm, we received a report that a collision had occurred in the Killagan Road area,” said Inspector Cherith Adair.

“Our officers attended alongside other emergency service partners, however, the woman… sadly died at the scene.”

Anyone that witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage that could assist the investigation, is asked to contact 101, quoting reference number 750 of September 28.
