A MAN has been charged with the murder of his mother following an incident in Co. Cork on Monday.
At Cork District Court today, David Gallagher, of Shrewsbury Downs in Ballinlough, Cork City, was also charged with assault causing harm to his father.
Sheila Gallagher, 59, sustained fatal injuries while attempting to escape the family home in Shrewsbury Downs, Ballinlough, on Monday night.
She was taken to Cork University Hospital, where she later passed away.
Her husband, 62-year-old Brian Gallagher, was also seriously injured during the incident and remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
David Gallagher 25, was arrested at the scene and appeared in court today, where he was remanded into custody.
He is due to appear in court again next Thursday, November 27.
