Boy, 15, among three arrested over attack on Co. Armagh police station

May 6, 2026 by

A BOY aged 15 is among three people arrested in connection with an attack on a police station in Co. Armagh.

On March 30, a delivery driver was hijacked by two masked men, one of whom was armed with a gun, before being forced to drive a bomb into Lurgan Police Station.

The alarm was raised and nearby residents were evacuated before a controlled explosion was carried out on the ‘crude but viable improvised explosive device’.

Earlier today, a 48-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested under the Terrorism Act before being taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

A 39-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, obstructing police and assisting an offender.

All three were arrested in the Lurgan area, where a number of searches remain ongoing.

“This cowardly and widely condemned attack, which took place on the night of Monda, March 30, put innocent lives at risk,” said a spokesperson for the PSNI.

“I’m keen to offer assurance that we will continue in our efforts to bring those responsible to justice, and would encourage anyone with information to get in touch.”

Investigators previously said they believed the incident — as well as a similar attack in Dunmurry last month — was the work of dissident republicans.
