Man in his 50s in serious condition in hospital following assault at Co. Derry flat

A MAN in his 50s is in a serious condition in hospital following an assault at a flat in Co. Derry.

The incident occurred in the Westbourne Crescent area of Coleraine at around 3.30am this morning.

“On the arrival of officers, damage was observed to the living room and kitchen area of the property,” said Detective Inspector Hanbidge of the PSNI.

“A man aged in his 50s was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

“A man aged 31 was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

“Our enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of what happened.”

Anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 116 of May 5.
