POLICE have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a car was stolen and then set alight in Belfast.
The car was stolen off the drive of a house in the Gweedore Gardens area in the early hours of yesterday morning (August 12).
Burglars managed to enter the property and find the car keys before making off with the vehicle, a black Peugeot 2008.
Officers were alerted to the car being on fire in the Colinglen Road area at around 4.10am.
“Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire Service, who extinguished the blaze,” the PSNI said in a statement.
“There were no persons present,” they added.
The police force has urged anyone who may have information to come forward.
“Police are appealing to anyone who was in these areas and noticed anything suspicious to make contact with us,” they said.
“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who has dash-cam, CCTV or other footage to contact police using our witness appeal form,” they added.
