THE BBC has confirmed a second series of the hit police documentary Peelers. Candidates ‘with musical background’ urged to apply as garda recruitment drive opens

Search of land underway in connection with Liam Murray murder investigation

LAND is currently being searched in Co. Dublin in connection with the investigation into the murder of Liam Murray. The 42-year-old’s body was found at his home in Rathfarnham on March 20, 2009. Chris O’Dowd to play Niall O’Dowd in major peace process thriller

CHRIS O’Dowd is set to portray Irish Voice founder Niall O’Dowd in a major new political thriller centred on the Northern Ireland peace process. William Butler Yeats, Ireland’s most famous poet and one of the leading literary figures of the 20th century, was born in Sandyhurst, Co. Dublin on this day in 1865 to an upper class Protestant family. He spent much of his childhood in Co. Sligo, which heavily influenced Yeats’s natural themes, and he read classics like Shakespeare, Donne, Alighieri and Shelley. With Lady Gregory, he helped establish the Gaelic Literary Revival and founded the Abbey Theater in Dublin. He was the first Irishman awarded the Nobel Prize in 1923, followed by Shaw, Beckett and Heaney.
