A MAN aged in his 70s has died following a house fire in Co. Clare. The alarm was raised at around 3.30am today following reports of a fire at the property in Moymore. A COMPANY in Co. Antrim has today been fined £175,000 following the death of a man in a workplace incident in 2019. Arrest made by police investigating murder of 84-year-old man in Co. Down

POLICE investigating the murder of a man in Co. Down have made an arrest. Sean Small, 84, was found deceased outside a property in the Slievenabrock Avenue area of Newcastle on Sunday, August 24. The ship “Catalpa,” which carried six Irish Fenians who escaped from Australia, docked in the U.S. on this day in 1876. Funded by Clan na Gael and several pardoned Fenians already in the U.S., the “Catalpa” was purchased by the organization and set sail for western Australia where Thomas Darragh, Martin Hogan, Michael Harrington, Thomas Hassett, Robert Cranston and James Wilson were serving a penal colony sentence. The men were rescued from Australia on April 17, 1876 and the ship docked in New York on August 19.
