Four people rescued from boat on fire in Dublin Bay

FOUR people have been rescued after a boat was engulfed in flames in Dublin Bay. The alarm was raised with the Coast Guard at around 3.45pm on Saturday. Those on board the 11-metre pleasure craft around 1.5 miles north-east of Dún Laoghaire were rescued by a crew from the RNLI before the boat sank. Funding of €8m will help preserve archaelogical monuments across Ireland

FUNDING of more than €8m has been earmarked by the Irish Government to protect archaeological monuments located across the country. Grants have been awarded to 104 heritage projects for 2026, including a number of churches, castles and other historic buildings. Just before the publication of the Saville Report, the inquiry into Derry’s 1972 Bloody Sunday, British Prime Minister David Cameron makes a speech at Westminster Abbey in which he says that the event was “unjustified and unjustifiable.” Cameron also apologizes on behalf of the British government. On this same day, thousands of people gather at the memorial and march to Guildhall, where Cameron’s speech is televised.
