Pensioner dies following assault outside his Waterford home

A MAN has died after sustaining serious injuries in an assault outside his home in Waterford. The pensioner, who was aged in his 70s, was found seriously injured at the property in the townland of Cappagh in Dungarvan last night. Man shot by masked gunman while walking home in Co. Derry

A MAN has been jailed over the theft of a rare Irish-themed Fabergé egg and watch, part of a set reportedly worth more than £2m. THE REMAINS of a further 36 children have been discovered at the site of a former mother and baby home in Co. Galway. Just before the publication of the Saville Report, the inquiry into Derry’s 1972 Bloody Sunday, British Prime Minister David Cameron makes a speech at Westminster Abbey in which he says that the event was “unjustified and unjustifiable.” Cameron also apologizes on behalf of the British government. On this same day, thousands of people gather at the memorial and march to Guildhall, where Cameron’s speech is televised.
