‘Positive update’ as date Holyhead Port expected to reopen confirmed

Police investigate suspected ‘sectarian hate crimes’ after vehicles damaged in Belfast

AN investigation is underway after a number of vehicles were damaged in suspected ‘sectarian hate crimes’. The PSNI were called to South Belfast at around 11.45am on December 29 where four damaged vehicles had been found in the Maryville Park area. Investigation launched folllowing incident where man impersonated police officer

AN investigation has been launched in Co. Antrim after a man flagged down a driver by pretending to be a police officer. Representatives appointed by Eamon de Valera of the Irish government, who include revolutionary Michael Collins, meet with representatives of the crown on this day in 1921 to sign the Anglo-Irish treaty. This officially marked the end of the Irish War for Independence. Collins, who did not support the agreement, remarked “I have signed by own death warrant.” One year later, however, the Irish Free State would come into being.
