Hit-and-run driver reversed through garden wall at speed while children played nearby

POLICE have appealed for information after a driver reversed at speed through a garden wall while children were playing nearby. Following the incident in the Dunmurry area of Belfast city, the driver fled the scene. On this day, Eamon de Valera abolished the Oath of Allegiance, a provisional aspect in the Anglo-Irish treaty of 1921. This provisional aspect originally required all members of the Irish parliament to take an oath declaring their allegiance to the King. This date also marked when de Valera withheld land annuities from England.
