Appeal after man dies in collision in Co. Roscommon

GARDAÍ have appealed for information after a man died in a two-vehicle collision in Co. Roscommon. The incident occurred on the R280 at Arigna on Tuesday, September 3 at around 8.20pm. Irish-based firm Kingspan criticised in Grenfell report over development and marketing practices

KINGSPAN, the Co. Cavan-based insulation company, has been criticised in a report into the 2017 Grenfell disaster that claimed 72 lives. Garda mandatory retirement age increased to 62

THE mandatory retirement age of serving garda officers has been increased from 60 to 62 years. Taking effect today, the new regulations come under Ireland’s Courts, Civil Law, Criminal Law and Superannuation Act 2024. Irish American author of “Angela’s Ashes” and Pulitzer Prize winner Frank McCourt passed away on July 19, 2009 in New York after battling melanoma cancer. Originally born in Brooklyn to Malachy and Angela McCourt, his parents moved the family back to Limerick after the death of his younger sister Margaret. The McCourts sunk very deep into poverty and this became the influence behind his autobiography “Angela’s Ashes.” In addition to writing, Frank McCourt had a successful career as a teacher.
