Museum appeals for information to solve mystery of Bronze Age axe heads

A MUSEUM has appealed to the public for information on two Bronze Age axe heads that it received anonymously in the post. The axe heads, dating from around 2150-2000 BC, were sent to National Museum of Ireland (NMI) at the end of June. A MOTORCYCLIST has died after being involved in a collision on a Dublin road in the early hours of this morning. Funding of €1.2m announced to promote Irish arts around the globe

A FUNDING injection of €1.2m has been announced to promote Irish arts and culture across the globe. The Declaration of Independence was famously signed on this day in 1776, marking the end of the American Revolution and forming a free nation. John Hancock’s signature is perhaps the most famous, however there were several Irish born patriots who signed the declaration. George Taylor, Matthew Thornton and James Smith attended as delegates at the Constitutional Convention. Taylor, who was a merchant from Pennsylvania, was originally born in Ireland in 1716. Smith, a lawyer, originally came from Ulster, born there in 1719. Thornton, a physician and militiaman representing New Hampshire, was born in Ireland in 1714.
