Man who sexually abused child is jailed for more than eight years

A MAN in his 40s who committed sexual abuse offences against a child has been jailed for more than eight years. Sean Begley admitted 10 offences, including sexual assault of a child and making indecent images of children. On this day, Eamon de Valera abolished the Oath of Allegiance, a provisional aspect in the Anglo-Irish treaty of 1921. This provisional aspect originally required all members of the Irish parliament to take an oath declaring their allegiance to the King. This date also marked when de Valera withheld land annuities from England.
