A BLACKMAILER who targeted his victim for four months has been jailed. Reece Carley, of Adari Manor in Ballymena, Co. Man arrested over 1979 murder of John James Porter in Armagh

A MAN wanted by police in Northern Ireland in relation to a murder in 1979 has been arrested in Cavan. James Donegan, of Bruce Manor, Arva in Cavan, is wanted for the murder of John James Porter, who was shot dead close to his farm in Mountmorris, Co. Armagh on June 24, 1979. Bill Doolin, famous western outlaw of Irish descent, escaped from jail on this day in 1896. Born in Arkansas, Doolin went west and worked several jobs as a cowboy on Oklahoma ranches. He eventually became a member of the Dalton gang, who attempted several robberies. In 1892, Doolin formed his own gang called the Wild Bunch, which became the most infamous outlaw group of the west at that time. Doolin was eventually shot and killed by U.S. Marshal Heck Thomas.
