A PHONE mast was left with extensive damage following an arson attack in west Belfast. A BLACKMAILER who targeted his victim for four months has been jailed. Reece Carley, of Adari Manor in Ballymena, Co. Man arrested over 1979 murder of John James Porter in Armagh

A MAN wanted by police in Northern Ireland in relation to a murder in 1979 has been arrested in Cavan. James Donegan, of Bruce Manor, Arva in Cavan, is wanted for the murder of John James Porter, who was shot dead close to his farm in Mountmorris, Co. Armagh on June 24, 1979. June 29, 1915

Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa, a prominent Fenian leader and member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, passed away in New York on June 29, 1915. Born in Co. Cork, Rossa was arrested and in 1865. He was charged with planning a Fenian Rising. He served out his sentence in England and after realizing he could not return to Ireland in exile, Rossa moved to the U.S. where he joined Clan Na Gael and the Fenian Brotherhood. A memorial to Rossa Stands in St. Stephen’s Green.
