TRIBUTES have been paid to an Irishman who died following a collision in Australia on Monday. Ryan Straney, 27, died in the four-vehicle collision at around 4.40am on the Pacific Motorway near Wahroonga, around 20km north of Sydney. Woman appears in court over death of baby found 26 years ago

A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of a baby found dead in woodland 26 years ago. Joanne Sharkey, 54, of West Derby, Liverpool, appeared at Warrington Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with murder and the concealment of the birth of a child. Man sentenced to 15 years after raping woman while collecting drug debt from victim’s friend

A MAN has been sentenced to 15 years after raping a woman several times while attempting to collect a drug debt from the victim's friend. €3m for safety and driver education schemes to tackle ‘unacceptable’ rise in deaths on Irish roads

THE Taoiseach has agreed €3m will be spent on road safety initiatives and driver education schemes across Ireland. Bill Doolin, famous western outlaw of Irish descent, escaped from jail on this day in 1896. Born in Arkansas, Doolin went west and worked several jobs as a cowboy on Oklahoma ranches. He eventually became a member of the Dalton gang, who attempted several robberies. In 1892, Doolin formed his own gang called the Wild Bunch, which became the most infamous outlaw group of the west at that time. Doolin was eventually shot and killed by U.S. Marshal Heck Thomas.
