Two police officers have escaped serious injury after their patrol vehicle was rammed in Co. Armagh. The incident occurred in the Chapel View area of Crossmaglen at around 3.15pm on Friday. Government announces €9m funding pot to restore historic buildings across Ireland

GRANTS worth €9m have been earmarked by the Irish Government to support the renovation and restoration of some of the country’s most historic buildings. A first edition draft of a chapter from James Joyce’s “Ulysses” is sold for close to £900,000 at an auction on this date in 2001. The scribble-filled manuscript of the chapter, titled Eumaeus, was sold by Sotheby’s. It was expected to sell for more than £1m.
