Man dies following early morning collision in Co Clare

A MAN has died after the car he was driving was involved in a collision in Co. Clare. Gardaí were called to the incident in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, November 24. Poultry farmer jailed for cultivating ‘sophisticated cannabis farm’

A FARMER in Co. Down has been jailed after being caught growing a “substantial” amound of cannabis. Poultry farmer Clive Weir, of New Road, near Hillsborough, was handed a three-year sentence at Craigavon Crown Court yesterday and was ordered to spend 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence. Man killed in horror collision between car and lorry on Irish road

A MAN has died after the car he was driving collided with a lorry in Co. Mayo. The collision happened at around 5.20pm yesterday afternoon on the N17 at Corbally. Gardaí have confirmed that the man driving the car, who was aged in his 30s, was fatally injured. Noone else was injured in the incident. Legendary actor and Oscar winner Gregory Peck died on this day in 2003. Peck, who’s grandmother Catherine Ashe came from Dingle, studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and debuted in his first Broadway show The Morning Star after graduation. His role in The Keys of the Kingdom in 1944 won him an Academy Award nomination. He became well known for his rugged screen presence and was often cast as the hero, especially in westerns. He starred opposite Audrey Hepburn in her first film Roman Holiday. Peck finally won the Oscar for his role as Atticus Finch in 1962’s To Kill a Mockingbird.
