A MAN has been arrested following the death of another man following a fatal assault at a hotel in Co. Laois. Memorial service for Billy Lawless to be held at Galway Cathedral

A MEMORIAL service will be held in Galway next month to honour the life of Billy Lawless. The former senator, who was born in Rahoon, Co. Galway, died on November 8 at the age of 73. The ban restricting Catholics from attending Trinity College Dublin is finally lifted on this day in 1970. Through the help of the then Archbishop of Dublin John McQuaid, the Roman Catholic church removes its policy of disapproval or even excommunication for Catholics who enrolled at Trinity College without the proper permission. Authorities at the school also allow for a Catholic chaplain to be based at the college.
