Northern Irish economy set for £21m boost thanks to tourist events

Pedestrian dies after being struck by Luas in Dublin

A MAN has died after being struck by a Luas tram in Dublin. The man, who was aged in his 70s, was hit by the tram on Monday evening, June 15. Taser programme to be extended across Ireland

A SCHEME which has seen uniformed gardaí equipped with tasers will be extended for a further six months. The pilot programme first launched in locations across the country in December 2025. Bill Doolin, famous western outlaw of Irish descent, escaped from jail on this day in 1896. Born in Arkansas, Doolin went west and worked several jobs as a cowboy on Oklahoma ranches. He eventually became a member of the Dalton gang, who attempted several robberies. In 1892, Doolin formed his own gang called the Wild Bunch, which became the most infamous outlaw group of the west at that time. Doolin was eventually shot and killed by U.S. Marshal Heck Thomas.
