GARDAÍ investigating the unsolved murders of two Irish women have begun a search on open ground in Co. Wicklow this week. Investigation underway after woman’s body found in Waterford

AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a woman’s body was found in Waterford. The woman, believed to be in her 80s, was discovered at a house in a rural area at Ardsallagh near Youghal Bridge. PSNI rejects criticism of approach to policing disorder

THE PSNI has rejected any criticism of its policing of the riots which erupted in Belfast following a stabbing incident last week. Bill Doolin, famous western outlaw of Irish descent, escaped from jail on this day in 1896. Born in Arkansas, Doolin went west and worked several jobs as a cowboy on Oklahoma ranches. He eventually became a member of the Dalton gang, who attempted several robberies. In 1892, Doolin formed his own gang called the Wild Bunch, which became the most infamous outlaw group of the west at that time. Doolin was eventually shot and killed by U.S. Marshal Heck Thomas.
