Ombudsman appeal for witnesses to police arrest in Belfast

A PUBLIC appeal has been issued to find people who may have witnessed the arrest of a man in Belfast last month. The Police Ombudsman of Northern Ireland has appealed for anyone who saw the arrest, which took place in the Beechview Park of the Falls Road in the early hours of October 6, 2024, to contact them. Prendergast retains place for Australia clash

Teenager shot in ‘deplorable’ act of violence in Derry

A TEENAGER is in hospital after being shot in the leg while walking to visit a friend in Derry last night. At around 10pm the young man was followed by a group of people as he walked along Springtown Road on his way to visit a friend in the Creggan area. The ban restricting Catholics from attending Trinity College Dublin is finally lifted on this day in 1970. Through the help of the then Archbishop of Dublin John McQuaid, the Roman Catholic church removes its policy of disapproval or even excommunication for Catholics who enrolled at Trinity College without the proper permission. Authorities at the school also allow for a Catholic chaplain to be based at the college.
