Arrests made after two men found with £5k in fake banknotes

TWO men have been arrested after they were caught with fake banknotes. The pair, aged 26 and 39, were arrested at Belfast Docks at around 8am yesterday morning (October 2) after PSNI officers were called to reports of the use of counterfeit notes. Elderly man dies following house fire in Co. Cork

AN ELDERLY man has died following a house fire in Co. Cork this morning. Emergency service responded to reports of a fire at a residence in Douglas at around 10.40am. A MAN has been arrested by gardaí over an alleged attempt to bribe a League of Ireland football player. According to gardaí, the bribery attempt relates to the current football season. On this day, Eamon de Valera abolished the Oath of Allegiance, a provisional aspect in the Anglo-Irish treaty of 1921. This provisional aspect originally required all members of the Irish parliament to take an oath declaring their allegiance to the King. This date also marked when de Valera withheld land annuities from England.
